My daughter, my son in law and my grandson (Ginger, Brandon and Jacob) all live in Connecticut - just a hop skip and a jump up from New York. Please keep them (and the eastern seaboard) in your prayers. The storms that this storm is supposed to combine with are brutal in their own right. It will be an incredibly dangerous situation if the Nor'easter combines making the electrical outages FREEZING electrical outages. GTASoldier, you and yours are in my prayers right along with my daughter and her family.
Thanks!

Prayers that the Lord would allow a weaker storm than it appears it will be, and for safety for all if not. Lord have mercy.

The Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA kindly requests prayers for the parishes and faithful of the Metropolia, as well as for the Metropolia Spiritual Center, which is located in South Bound Brook/Somerset, NJ, and for all who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy, which is projected to impact the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. http://www.uocofusa.org/news_121028_1.html“Lord, Who calmed the storm at sea: Quiet the fears. Ease the pain. Tend the grief and light the darkness of your children on the East Coast of our Nation as they are faced with the consequences of hurricane Sandy. Be the voice of the injured. Lead rescuers to the lost. Shelter the waiting. Sustain those who work to make life's necessities spring forth in this desert of gloom. Blanket the weary with your tender touch. Shake us from our comfort to share our sisters’ and brothers' sorrow and burden. Enable us to assist and pray them into new life. For You are a Merciful and Loving God and unto you do we ascribe glory: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen."

Thank you, Liza! I tried to call Ginger tonight because I saw on the news that they are mandatory evacuating - no answer. :-/ It's too late to fly them out. Thank you for posting this beautiful prayer. Thanks be to God for the beautiful care He passes to us through our church leadership.

The Lord's flock is blessed with good shepherds! We truly needed to hear from them at this crucial time, and it's comforting to know we are all praying together!!!

I received a call from Ginger, my daughter, last night. Her husband is a first-responder (A police officer) so he cannot leave the area. They came to evacuate the city yesterday morning, but Ginger, Brandon and the baby are going to stay with his parents (one city over) as they have a basement, and the area her inlaws are in does not flood, usually. They don't expect the storm to move onto the coast until this evening. She said that they expect the storm to last between 36 and 48 hours - and to lose electricity for quite a while. (Irene knocked the electricity out for over a week.)

Ginger, Brandon and Jacob are fine - they have not lost power, yet. His uncle's house burned to the ground from an electrical fire. They are all tired - said they've been up all night, but the winds finally died down to calm around 1am. They are still under wind advisory, but the high wind warning has been cancelled. Glory be to God - Thanks be to God!
Lord have mercy and memory eternal for all who lost their lives and their families. Please also have mercy on those who are continuing to deal with this storm.
