Yeah, but do you distinguish between catechumens who are formally so (those who have gone through the actual rite prescribed in the service books) and those who are so "by designation" (those who haven't gone through any rite, but are nevertheless preparing for reception)? Catechumens may be "in the Church", but they are not so in the way that those who have already been received are "in the Church". Although he could be given a church funeral. a catechumen cannot go to Communion, for example, until he is baptised and/or chrismated. I think a separate category is appropriate. But, again, I'd rather there be no options at all, and let the person write it in themselves.
