I was wondering if any of the members here have any CD's of Russian, Byzantine or any other Orthodox chanting on hymns? I was looking to buy a few on amazon or ebay, and I was just wondering if you had any recommendations? Perhaps there are some favorite websites of yours that sell music?

I do like Byzantine Hymns of the Nativity Smiley

My favorite Byzantine chant CD at the moment is the Christmas CD done by Mihalis Makris and his choir. It can be bought here: http://www.bostonmonks.com/product_info.php/cPath/39_126/products_id/941

I would also recommend the recordings of the Russian Patriarchate Choir. They do the best Znamenny that I've heard. Unfortunately almost all their discography is out of print, but it can be found as a free downloadable torrent several places online.

If you like Byzantine chant in Arabic, I recommend anything you can find by Met. Elias Korban, the recently departed bishop of Tripoli and al-Koura, Lebanon. He was very well known for his many recordings of Byzantine chant in Arabic, dating back to his days as archdeacon at the Cathedral of St. Nicolas in Brooklyn NY, back in the 1950s. He died c. 2009, if I remember correctly, so there are tons of recordings out there, many of which are available on CD from Alexia Publications based in Quebec.
