Since our Lord was betrayed for silver, do any of you think it is kind of ridiculous to make icons of PURE silver?

Outrageous.

Next thing you know, people will start using the means of our Lord's execution as some sort of Christian symbol.

I think the meaning of that story is that Christ was betrayed for money. It would have been the same, had the money been made of gold or other kinds of material.

Christ is risen!

Do not be cast down over the struggle - the Lord loves a brave warrior. The Lord loves the soul that is valiant.
