AFR once again has podcasts of plenary speakers from this year's conference, the theme of which was "Theology of the Laity". Speakers included:


Frederica Mathewes-Green (Orthodox)
Author, media commentator, and lecturer from Baltimore, Maryland

Fr. Gregory Gresko (Roman Catholic)
Chaplain of the Blessed John Paul II Shrine in Washington, DC

Sr. Dr. Vassa Larin (Orthodox)
A nun in the Russian Orthodox Church and a professor at the University of Vienna

Carl E. Olson (Greek Catholic)
Author, editor and lecturer
   
Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia (Orthodox)
Metropolitan in the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople

Archimandrite Robert Taft (Greek Catholic)
Retired professor at the Pontifical Oriental Institute

Does anyone know when the next Orientale Lumen in Constantinople is? I might want to go.

I'm working my way through them. I've listened to all the Orthodox speakers and have started Archimandrite Taft's session. What are your thoughts thus far? I love Metropolitan Kallistos but I think Sr. Dr. Larin's talk is my favorite so far.

I prefer Met. Kallistos. That Carl Olsen guy who "can convince anyone of purgatory" is annoying. Sr. Dr. Larin is my second choise. Great lecture.

I have listened through all of them.

I liked Sr. Vassa Larin and Robert Taft. Both were scholarly without being inaccessible, and both were honest about the problems they addressed. Taft rambled somewhat.

I didn't care for FM-G or the Greek Catholic layman.

Neither +Kallistos or the Roman Catholic speaker stood out to me.

I didn't care for Frederica Matthewes-Green's talk, either. She seems like a very nice lady but her talk seemed better suited to a group of people curious about Orthodoxy and who don't have much knowledge about it. I don't mean to discredit her, there is obviously a niche for her and one I'm sure she's successful in... but it just seemed out of place here.

Interesting. I seem to recall liking FM-G's talk better than most of the others.
