Please remember in your prayers the servant of God Dmitri who died this morning in a motorcycle accident. Please also remember his girlfriend Cassie who survived with some broken bones and a broken heart.
I am gutted. Dim was one of my oldest friends. He was also my most wacky. Totally unpredictable; he'd pop up in the strangest places at the strangest times and it was always a pleasant surprise. He was the kind of person who asked, "How are you?" and meant it. He'd also be the first person to have your back if something "unpleasant" happened.
I am not the crying type when it comes to death, but I can't go ten minutes without at least tearing up. I've had all sorts of acquaintances my age pass in my short 37 years on this earth, but this is the first real friend. I do not like it.

We laid Dim to rest yesterday, thankfully with an Orthodox service (I had no idea he was actually baptized (we never talked religion or faith), but apparently he was! Glory to God!).
We received a not-so-cryptic message from Cassie today about "meeting [Dmitri] soon." No one can get a hold of her at the moment.
Please pray that another tragedy hasn't occurred.

We laid Dim to rest yesterday, thankfully with an Orthodox service (I had no idea he was actually baptized (we never talked religion or faith), but apparently he was! Glory to God!).

Today would have been Dmitri's 37th birthday. I know it's not "traditional" to mark a birthday with prayer for the dead, but, if you can remember, please pray for the soul of Dmitri (and for the continued healing of his fiancee Cassandra) some time today.

We remember the birthdays of saints & of Christ Himself, and he's sitting at the right hand of the Father right now. No reason not to remember your friend's birthday. So sorry this happened Schultz. May God have mercy on his soul. |
