i thought that using the "back" button on forums like this undoes the action you have done as well, like if i am working my way thru "posts since my last visit" and im reading a thread, and then press "back" to get back to the "posts since my list visit" page, wouldnt the thread i just read still be on the list?
I swear that I posted this in the wee hours of the night before falling asleep, but it isn't here
- so, ...
The absence of a link at the bottom of the screen page to accomplish what you're asking seems, for some inexplicable reason, to be a common aspect of architecture to all on-line message boards, regardless of the system on which they are built. Not sure why that is, other than to aggravate folks like you and myself, who object to having to scroll through what we already bothered to read - "been there, done that, why revisit?"
Your "back" button doesn't undo what you've done (unless you are in the process of drafting a reply to a post and so unwise as to use it before posting the reply
). In all other instances, what it does is to return you to a place in time, with respect to the forum's use, that presages that in which you were before its (the button's) use; if you can't get your head around the place/time/use premise (sounds like an obscure philosophical concept from metaphysics), not to worry - it sounded so convoluted that I couldn't stop myself from typing it
Instead, hit your "back" button, then hit "refresh" in the drop-down "view" menu.
It will cause the screen's contents to be refreshed to a current state of information
. I find the extra keystroke needed to do so is infinitely less aggravating than scrolling back to the top of the page.
That was a long way to go to get to a 1 sentence of useful advice, wasn't it :-? Think I'll have coffee now - that's the problem, brain cells lulled by turkey and, as yet, unstimulated.
