Those who ignore history tend to repeat it.

From another Orthodox site -

I am writing to request once more sincere prayers as *Christians* for the Coptic Orthodox Church of
Egypt.

The wife of one of our priests was abducted by Muslim extremists, and allegedly, was forced to convert to Islam. We do not know about the conversion aspect, but that she was abducted is ascertained. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, has called on all Copts to pray for the peace of the Church and to extend their fast during this Holy Fast of Advent. Middle Eastern media are the only media so far allowed at protest sites, and are reporting the news as a willing conversion by the woman, and that our protests are merely at our anger over her conversion.

In the event that the woman was actually forced to convert to Islam, if she is released and returned to her family, her life will be in danger for "Apostasy".

We pray that God restore peace in the Church, and to teach us how to continue to bear the Cross in love, faith, and hope.

Agape,
Mena (was Wak-Wak or Mina Rizkalla on this group before)
Amen, maranatha!
"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy." (Psalm 126:5)
The greatest might of a man is to bring upon his soul his
transgression at all times before God, and he must expect
temptation until the end." - Abba Antony

Prayers indeed.
I saw this late yesterday and thought, "Will this ever end?"

This is truly shocking and horrible news. I will most definitely remember our Coptic Orthodox brothers and sisters in prayer.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

I don't even know what to say anymore, this sickens and saddens me so much.  May God preserve His Church and help this woman and her family.  How long will this be allowed this to go on?  So much for the "religion of peace".

Hey there, I posted that message over at another board. We do appreciate all your prayers, there is news that things are improving, but nothing is being said with certainty until the Church makes a statement and the woman herself is safe.

Please continue to pray.

Meena, tislam.

I am listening to some of it now, but the audio quality is bad; I'm having trouble hearing what Say'yednal Mutraan is saying.

I'm downloading this anyway for later.

Thank you, and please, Mina, send this board any new information and links you obtain as time passes.
