Goebbels' propaganda had called Arno Breker "The Michelangelo of the 20th Century." Of course, in truth he was a mere technician and his work lacked any spark of genius. The following is a simple excersise where you are to tell Michelangelo from Breker.

Michelangelo or Hitler's Sculptor?

Perhaps people are interested in seeing whether they can tell a genius from a mediocricity.

Greetings in that Divine and Most Precious Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Simply put, there will never again be another Michelangelo.  The Nazis were literally stupid.  Who else could bring such life to inanimate stone than Michelangelo?  Never has an artists with such sophistication been able to carve stone. Besides of which, this quiz was a trick question.  All the pictures were obvious except for the one bad Michelangelo carving which was actually not as bad as the photograph included suggested. I think the real point was could you spot out the difference between the finest Breker and the worst Michelangelo.

The Classics were indeed marvels of any age, but Michelangelo with ease surpassed them all in beauty, precision, and feel.  That is precisely why the Nazis were more intent on stealing the works of such Masters rather than try to duplicate the skill on their own.  Nazi recreations of fine European art and culture come across and empty as Walmart.

stay blessed,
habte selassie

92%- one of the Brecker's looked more weathered than it should, but it lacked Michelangelo's distinctive "bosom" touch. I took the fifty/fifty.

I've got a similar quiz.

Make a distinction between Lech Kaczyński (former president of Poland) and Jarosław Kaczyński (former prime minister of Poland).

If I recall European Recent Historyas a category on Jeopardy  Wink the relationship between the brothers Kaczynski of Poland was no less strained than the one between the brothers Kaczynski of the United States...( Ted, the Unibomber, was finally turned in by his brother who recognized his writing style from his manifesto. So posters beware - someone may recognize your style as well!!  Wink Wink )

I got 100%. You can always tell it's Michelangelo when the body looks like a sack of potatoes and the boobs on women look like they were tacked on at the end.

Please, do tell, in which of his sculptures does a man look like a cigarette.

So the Michelangelo sculptures used in the quiz are his worst? And Breker's his best? How do you know? I wonder: have you ever seen any other Breker's sculptures?
