My dear friend just had her first child, and I wanted to get her an icon for the baby.  Only problem is she didn't give the baby a saint's name.  Any suggestions for appropriate icons?

What about just a guardian angel icon?

Indeed! Another good choice would be a hinged diptych of Christ and the Mother of God.

There is a tradition to present an icon of the child patron Saint as high as the child when it was born.

True, but, according to the OP, the child has not been given a proper Christian name - at least, not yet. So we have no idea of who the patron saint of this child might be.

St.Nicholas could also be appropriate.
