Hello all.  I am so happy as i began catechumenate classes with three other norwegians in the russian orthodox parish i attend. It is quite unusual as there are not too many fellow countrymen/women that do convert nowadays. It was so nice and have got an extensive lists of book to read, some food for thoughts and some good advices from the priest regarding a solid prayerlife. It all was concluded by Vespers and preparational prayers to communion. Excited, overwhelmed and so happy. Blessings to you all. |

I would like to thank you all for the kind words. It has been a time behind me of thinking, wondering, learning and growth. But it feels great now and i have met some really wonderful people in the local parish that i look forward to learn to know better. A blessed sunday i wish you all. |

Its been the hardest and the most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me. Its been hard because I had been protestant my whole life. Now all of the sudden its a little lonely because the Orthodox church doesn't have the "church family" intimacy that I'm used to. But I've never felt a higher since of spiritual fulfillment and for the first time in my life I feel as though I'm on the right path as well. I'm really enjoying all the different things I can read now like the teachings of the early fathers and apocrypha books. PM me if you have any questions. May God bless you as He has me. |

Just a note on the ""church family" intimacy" Jerry sorry that's missing for you, hopefully it will grow with time. Tomm, Though we are not yet catechumen we have been attending our parish steadily for 9 months and part time for 2 months before that. The sence of intimacy and family is wonderful. I think this is a thing that varies by church perhaps. Again congratulations. |

I'm going to concur with Maximum Bob on "'church family' intimacy." We definitely have it at our parish and it's great. I'm sorry to hear yours isn't quite as friendly. For my curiosity's sake, are your fellow parishioners mostly ethnic or convert? |

I'm going to concur with Maximum Bob on "'church family' intimacy." We definitely have it at our parish and it's great. I'm sorry to hear yours isn't quite as friendly. For my curiosity's sake, are your fellow parishioners mostly ethnic or convert? I'd say its about 85% converts. I could see how it could vary from churches as it did in protestant churches. |
