I heard a quote one time that said something like "its not the church who needs reforming, but rather its us who needs reforming."

it was in a discussion about finding things that you dislike/disagree with or uncomfortable with when it comes to orthodoxy or catholicism.  Basically saying that we need to align our views with the Church, rather than the Church aligning with our views...

anyone know where this came from? a saint? someone famous? it may have just been someone i was discussing with. cant remember...

-bump-

anyone ever heard of this? maybe not. maybe some random person said in conversation.

either way, what do you think of that idea? i was going to use it in a blog post (yes, nerdy i know), but if there isnt an actual quote, i may still use the idea if it makes sense.

thoughts?

It sounds familiar, and I tried to do a search for it, but came up empty (except for a couple quotes in St. Augustine about conforming our opinions to the Scripture rather than letting our opinions dictate what is true and not in Scripture).
