"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die [...] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." -The Lord Jesus Christ

Its useful. Though I don't agree with some of the commentary and think it misunderstands St Severus and our Tradition.

But the translations are good.

Some comments:

-Overall a very balanced introduction to the Christological controversies of the era and the life and thought of St. Severus.

-The they could not have picked a better anthology of texts to include in this book. The works of St. Severus included in this monograph give the reader a very clear picture of St. Severus as liturgist, homilist, theologian, pastor and Patriarch. The translations are of very high quality.

-That said, I had a few minor disagreements with the author's commentary.

-There were a few typos (in my edition, at least) that interfered with the meaning of the text.

-In their translations of St. Severus' works, they will often times redact the Patristic quotes the Saint provides, presumably to save space(?). I found that a bit frustrating.

Now, if someone can help us resolve this question, I would be most appreciative:

I love St. Severus, I've learned so much about the faith from him over the past five years or so. I want to read everything I possibly can from/about him.

Unfortunately, I do not. But my father does. If you have any French resources you would recommend I could either give them to him or have someone at my University professionally translate them. Thank you in advance, Father.

French and Germans seem to have all the good stuff  :P

Most of the corpus of St Severus is easily available in French.
