Since there seems to be some who live in the Muslim countries or who have otherwise contacts there...

I'd like to hear how's the situation on the grassroot level for the traditional Christian minorities who have lived there and who have been Christians even before Islam ever existed. Probably all of us have heard the nice theoretical idea that Muslims respect the People of the Book and their rights to practice their religions. What is the actual reality?

That's primarily the Middle East, Cyprus, Iran, etc...  But you might also like to learn about Indonesia and Malaysia; similar situation, but originally they were Hindu/animist then Christians via Portugal then Islam was introduced after 400 years.

Really ? Wasn't Islam introduced first in Indonesia ? They converted to Islam in the XIII century (well, the small kingdoms)

Portugal was there in the XVI, 1510 precisely.

AFAIK outside of Middle East situation is a little bit different since people weren't Monotheists so the "People of the Book" doesn't apply to them. So primarily I'm interested in originally Christian countries.

But anyway you are correct. I should have been more specific. Smiley
