I know there is not one dogmatic position on evolution and what the world as a whole was like before the Fall, but I wanted to get some opinions on the matter.

I once heard from someone on a forum that before the fall, man was not subject to spiritual death, but he and all other living things were subject to physical death. I have also heard that before the fall animals and plants died, but Adam and Eve did not. Then there is the more fundamental view that nothing died before the fall.

What is your opinion of on this topic?

The Slippery Slope of Modalism

One day those who are reasonable about the notion of evolution (understand this is correct) should have a thread where they discuss the actual problems raised by it. Because evolution does create interesting problems.

The role of death prior to the fall is a problem that needs working out.

The problem would be of course those who are out to lunch on the issue (young earthers) would cause nothing but distractions within such a thread.

Man was capable of spiritual death before the fall, and everything was capable of physical death, and many things did die. I would take a position that accepts both literal and figurative elements in the creation narratives, or really one that transcends both approaches.

We already have such a thread: Creationism, Evolution, and Orthodoxy.
