Hello. I wrote an article about the Old Testament, and a Ukrainian journal said articles need the approval of a priest. The problem is that I wrote it in Russian and know few Russian-speaking priests. Plus, when it comes to Russian websites, it seems like they are alot less likely to mention contact information for priests than English websites are.
Would you have any advice?

Why did you write in Russian for a Ukrainian journal?
Why don't you just go the MP website. I'm sure they are bound to have some contact information.

Liza,Thanks for responding, with a good idea I think I will follow next. Well, first I wrote the article in Russian and then contacted the MP's journal ( http://www.rop.ru/article.php?1105), but couldn't get in touch with the phone numbers (yes I used a calling card ). Next I contacted some other Russian-language journals including a few I found in Ukraine. When you say the MP website, do you mean the MP in America, Russia, or both? If you mean the latter, what part of the website do you have in mind?

Are you, at all on Facebook?
Honestly, that would be one of the easiest ways to find a Russian speaking priest!
You can always find priests who post responses to various topics....in various languages.
Let me know if you have a FB account.

As for JMP: I have rarely seen any articles in the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate not written by one of their professors, clergy or hierarchs so I would be surprised if you got a reply.

Cool. Thanks for the responses. Thanks also for the info about the JMP. I did try emailing, but didn't get a response. I posted this question on 3 Russian-language groups and felt frustrated b/c I didn't get a response. I OC.net

Funny thing is that you got the Ukrainians on this site to help you out.
I know we've got a ton of Russian speakers.

Well, it was a Ukrainian journal. And don't you think that Orthodox in America are actually made up of more ethnic Ukrainians than Russians as far as their background is concerned? Bud Zdrave!

Well, my parish priest who learned basic Russian in Seminary agreed to sign an approval form if I wrote one up for him.
I have a related question though. I am still not sure if the journal will publish the article, but another Russian-language Orthodox journal said I could write one for them on the same general topic if I could get the grammar right.
Would you happen to know anyone who may be interested in "grammar checking" an article if I wrote one?
Thank you again!

How long is the article?
One magazine asked for under 10,000 symbols (3 pages), another asked for under 40,000 (11 pages). My research is about 40 pages.

Anyone out there know of any Russian-speaker who would be willing to help out and proof read his article? I'd help, but, my Russian is almost non-existent. I can understand some of it, and figure out what I am reading most times, but, certainly wouldn't be able to correct grammar or spelling errors. Rakovsky, did you try to contact Fr. Alexander Lebedeff? Perhaps Vladik would be willing to help.

Perhaps Vladik would be willing to help. Of course, I can help. But it's better to let me know via PM next time. I came to read this topic by accident.
