What about frogs? I like frogs!

« on: July 10, 2012, 11:45:08 PM »

Our 4.5 month old (corrected age 3.5 months) has a nasty illness of some sort. He would be fully vaccinated against pertussis next month. Right now the doctor is thinking he HAS pertussis. We recently discovered that he has damage to his upper airway from the intubation and such from the RSV episode when he was about a month old (he was born early, so corrected age would have been 1 week). So this makes whatever illness this is exceedingly complicated. Prayers that he can ride out whatever this is without any more hospitalizations would be appreciated. He has already lost weight from this illness which is not a good thing.

Prayers for my attitude would be good too. At this point I am just depressed about Tazzy's health. The damaged airway and possible surgery in the future had me pretty down. This whooping cough possibility just...well I am upset a good amount more now.

Lord Jesus Christ, through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos and of all the Saints, especially St. Nectarios and St. John of San Francisco, have mercy on the infant Tazzy.

An update on Tazzy:

Today he is doing MUCH better. I think that the albuterol nebulizer treatment yesterday helped open him up enough to make the cough more productive. At this point we doubt it is pertussis. This is EXCELLENT news on one hand since we know it won't get worse. But this also means that a simple cold makes him sound like a 50 year smoker with half a lung. We had him tested for pertussis anyway just to be sure. But at this point I don't think he is likely to have it.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Lord have mercy and glory to God.

The nebulizer helped me when I was very young, too. Thank God for those.
