Part with a Thurible?
« on: July 04, 2012, 03:55:21 AM »
Just curious if anyone would be willing to part with a Thurible that they may have at home. I love to bless my home with the beautiful aroma of incense and would love a Thurible to be able to do it in a much easier fashion.

Thank you, and may the Lord grant you many years!
"And the King will say to them, ‘Verily I say to you, inasmuch as you have done it to the least of these my bretheren, you have done it to Me.’" Matthew 25

It is generally the case that thuribles are only used by clergy in the context of services. When laypeople burn incense at home, they would normally use a hand-censer.

Here is a hand-censer for the home, at a reasonable price.  We have these at my church's bookstore and people like them:

That's interesting, as the Thurible I use at the moment was given to me by a priest some number of years ago.

That does not surprise me.  "If a layman use a Thurible for worship, let him be anathema." said no canon ever.
I would be happy to agree with you, but then both of us would be wrong.
