I am new to this message board, and I've read posts here and there. Frankly, it bothers me to read posts from fellow Orthodox judging us Oriental Orthodox as "unorthodox" heretics. As a Copt, and a reader-deacon, I was born and raised in my faith and was always taught that my church has always been orthodox. It was not until I conducted my own research into history, especially on ecumenical councils, that I've truly appreciated what it means to belong to a church that has been virtually unchanged in its apostolic faith since the beginning. Chalcedon was a spoof to me, frankly. A big mess with envy-driven politics raging against our blessed Dioscoros whom they've exiled to Gangra. What gave them (Byzantines) the right to place Proterius over our forefathers? The Egyptian synod elected Abba Timothy, and that is how a see conducts its elections- by canonical tradition. Is it not canonically incorrect, also, to have more than one bishop over a see? Why is there then the "Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria", which claims our Throne of St. Mark, and steals our Abba Shenouti's proper title of Pope and Patriarch? Foul play! Let the minutes of the councils be examined, and let the truth be told. It is people like Linus (yes, I dare mention names) that truly get on my nerves. Brother Farrington knows what he's talking about, and what I'm talking about. Bah, well, I wish everyone a good night, I'm tired.

Hello Shenouti - As a person who loves St. Dioscoros and our Coptic Orthodox Church, I agree with your assessment of the historical events surrounding Chalcedon. However, I must agree with Anastasios that the posts you are referring to are many months old. I can assure you that that nothing like that will go down on my watch!
