But, no. The Liturgy of the Presanctified is not used during the advent season.

I found the page that I think you were trying to link to. It actually doesn't say that the Orthodox serve the Liturgy of the Presanctified during the Nativity Fast (which we don't), but rather: They have no proper Office for Advent, neither do they celebrate during this time the Mass of the Presanctified, as they do in Lent. Which basically means that we don't have special services for the Fast per se, nor do we have any special liturgies. |

Yes, in our parish we are having vigils almost every night until the Nativity  . It wasn't possible before due to the limit (unless I'm mistaken) of one Divine Liturgy per day in the church, but we now have a small chapel in the building behind the church which has allowed us a lot more freedom (dedicated to Saint Silouan) |

Vigil is not Liturgy - vigil is composed of vespers, mattins and first hour.

Perhaps vigil is the wrong term then. In Greek it is "agripnia" and it includes the divine liturgy.

Wow. Your Greek Orthodox churches must be very active places. That's refreshing to see. Here, unfortunately, Greek Orthodoxy is mainly a Sunday morning only religion. Kind of sad, really.

I happen to live in Greece, so things are perhaps a little different here than in the diaspora . Plus Thessaloniki has always had a reputation for prayer. Throw a rock in any direction and you are bound to hit a church  |
