My Mother
« on: June 21, 2012, 05:28:01 AM »
Another prayer request for my mother. A bit of a blog ahead, so prepare. My mother is the youngest child out of seven (six girls, one boy) and was born much later than the rest of her siblings by 18-28 years. Being the baby of the family, everyone picked on her excessively and still continues to up to this very day. And this was not just normal sibling dysfunction; they abused her on average both psychologically and physically. Her mother--who is also my grandmother--did nothing to stop it and actually went along with it. In one instance my mother says that her mom pistol whipped her when she was fourteen. My mom's father was not ever around to protect her or help take care of her because he divorced my grandmother around the time she became pregnant with my mom. So she's had a pretty lousy life, and to this very day I find her still dwelling on these things with an unresolved hatred for her mother and most of her siblings still treating her rudely, picking on her and taking advantage of her kindness whenever they meet. Me and my father have been telling my mom that she should get some professional help, but i always turns into one of those casual things that she says she will do in time, but always ends up blowing it off and forgetting about it.

I just wanted to ask that you would all pray for my mother's well-being and emotional health as her relations with her mother and siblings are growing pretty confusing right now, to the extent that she almost beat up one of her older sisters a few days ago during an argument and would have proceeded to if my father did not break things up.

Thanks.

Lord, have mercy on JamesR's mother, and on all her household and extended family.

JamesR, you are doing well to give encouragement to your mother and to ask for prayers for her.  You are doing all you can. Please do not be discouraged. Situations such as these take a long time to improve.

Lord, have mercy!!!!

Is there any way to get "away" from her family?

God be with your mother!

I don't know that people can be effectively forced into counseling. The best would be for her to recognize a need herself. The love you provide her will help.

I would suggest most persons in general avoid any question beginning with why.

Lord have mercy.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
