Hi All,
Just after a list of verses which reference the Trinity in the Old Testament - Is there an orthodox view on this also if commentary available ?
Verses which reference about the Trinity
Genesis 1:26
Genesis 3:22
Genesis 19:24
Amos 4:11
Would appreciate if anyone could direct me to an orthodox view point regarding the Trinity in the Old Testament.

The church certaintly wouldn't read that verse in the unitarian sense as Jews or even muslims would. Rather that verse is to be read in the sense of the trinity, and there is One God and he is a trinity. So verses like this don't help either side in establishing who has the right idea of God in the Old testament, rather we have to look for inferences as to God's personhood, and it seems to me in the Old testament, starting with genesis which has many verses implying a plurality of persons within God (let us create mankind in our image) or even verses in which the angel of the Lord directly speaks as if God, show us that there is a plurality within God.

God is One in Essence and Undivided. The word "one" here is not the one which means mono-, but the word which means uni-. Certainly the church viewed it trinitrian but how did they break it down to explain the trinity ? When I did a quick search on google it came up with some info regarding the words used in hebrew that verse are plural. Wondering what the orthodox view is on it since Jews use it to disregard the holy trinity?. |

The LORD / our God / is one LORD.
Holy God/ Holy Mighty/ Holy Immortal
Am I reading too much into the Deuteronomy verse that isn't there?

The Trinity is united in the Father, who is the source of the Son (who is begotten of the Father) and the Holy Spirit (who proceeds from the Father). |
