It's better than Cameron's Aliens. But then again I always rated the first film as the best. That was a horror movie done right. Ridley had such an amazing eye in the late 70s and 80s that was lost in his future films.
However Prometheus does harken back to his artistic genius. I still want to strangle Damon Lindelof. He's an awful writer.

I liked it a lot. Yes, there are moments aplenty where I wanted to point at the screen and yell, "Wait a minute, go back and explain that again!" - but if you suspend your disbelief a whole heck of a lot, it's a real thrill ride.

Ridley Scott existed for two reasons: AlienBlade RunnerBoth genre bending works of art. He should weep and repent for everything else. I will suspend my judgement on the current feature till after having seen it. Thank you all for your advices.

Legend is to me an interesting experiment in something or other, but I don't think it quite achieves greatness. I love Alien, it's like 2001 but with lots of gore.

Check out the Director's Cut of it, with the Jerry Goldsmith score. Really great stuff. I like both versions.
Beautiful film. Scott had such an eye for color and rule of thirds.

Secondly the only version of BR that matters is the Final Cut. The workprint version is neat, but I loved the FC in Blu-Ray.

I saw it two nights ago and enjoyed it. There were a couple plot holes, but those are difficult to avoid in such a complex movie. I re-watched "Alien" the next day and it was interesting to see the little connections between the two movies.

Prometheus: what did u think? Pretty good publisher. Yeah, they let some popular level trash slip through just because it promotes an anti-religious concept or tone, but really most publishers that put out the type of stuff they do are university presses doing scholarly stuff, so it's good to have someone do stuff that's popular level or somewhere in between popular and specialist.

I haven't seen any of Alien films so I can't comment on that. Otherwise it seemed to be a compilation of disaster film, horror and scifi without being properly any of those. It tried to be everything and ended up being a compilation of footages.

The Christian allegories in the movie is just awesome. The whole movie is just great. David owns. Movies.com: We had heard it was scripted that the Engineers were targeting our planet for destruction because we had crucified one of their representatives, and that Jesus Christ might have been an alien. Was that ever considered?
Ridley Scott: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an “our children are misbehaving down there” scenario, there are moments where it looks like we’ve gone out of control, running around with armor and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, "Let's send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it." Guess what? They crucified him. http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html<3 Rid.

Greetings in that Divine and Most Precious Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I saw it in IMAX 3D. I think the most exciting part was the visual effects for the Spiderman trailer! So what did u all think? Does it do justice to the rest of the Alien series? Will there be a sequel (to the prequel ?) I didn't know it was an explicit tie-in to the Alien franchise. Without seeing it, no it cannot come close to the genre bending excellent film making of the first Alien. That is where you're wrong, in a weird way it was finally giving the Alien series some class that the Alien vs Predator viasco robbed the franchise of. This was better, it hinted at Alien and Predator worlds, but was not a linear tie in. In that regard, I liked it all the more, and I also had NO idea it was part of the Alien series until midway through when all kind of Alien stuff started showing up. I think this film finally makes the premises and plots of the Alien-Predator attempts reach something like epic, whereas before it was all insinuation. Also, why are robots always trying to destroy the human race? Its getting old already and it hasn't even happened yet! stay blessed, habte selassie

My thoughts on Prometheus:
It was good, but Guillermo Del Toro still badly needs to make At the Mountains of Madness.
