Why isn't the crown of thorns depicted on the crucifixion iconography?

But on the Christ of Passion he wears a crown of thorns?

I've always seen in western art/icons that Christ is crucified but the crown remains. I've yet to see an Orthodox icon with it on. Is there some sort of theological meaning on its removal?

And, to tack onto the question, why is there blood on Christ's chest - or what seems to be blood anyways - but no crown of thorns?
