I live by the river where the old gods still dream

Can someone answer this question for me:

Would I be committing a mortal error if I chose to grow where I have been planted, as a RC, rather than proceeding to go through the process of becoming an EO?

Wouldn't you rather be planeted in soil that bears fruit worthy of salvation?

This

But if you are really serious about it, then I guess I'd rather you at least be a Roman Catholic than a Protestant, which is something you seem to advocate very often.

Do what you feel you must.  If you believe the claims of Orthodoxy, then you would be lying to yourself and the world by remaining a Roman Catholic; if you believe the claims of Rome, then you would be lying to yourself and the world by becoming an Orthodox Christian.

I've believed a lot of stuff over the past 6 years.

I mean, let's be honest, if I were to suddenly die before becoming an Orthodox Christian, which more and more looks like an indefinite possibility from the church's standpoint, I would be buried as a RC and receive RC funerary rites.

If you were a catechumen you will be buried as an Orthodox Christian.
