« on: May 30, 2012, 01:35:54 PM »
Musician Doc Watson has died. He was 89.

From the article:
Quote
Watson was a master flatpicker, playing his acoustic guitar at lightning speeds that could intimidate other musicians. The blind musician also sang and played other instruments, including the harmonica.

His many awards include the National Medal of the Arts in 1997 and the lifetime achievement award from the Grammys in 2004. His albums earned seven other Grammys.

I was fortunate to see his (likely) final performance at this year's Merlefest.

Lord, have mercy.

God grant him rest!

I heard him in  concert a couple years ago. It was a moving experience. He had a way of relating to the audience, and his music was so full of spirit.

I would suggest most persons in general avoid any question beginning with why.

RIP, Doc! May your memory be eternal!

Memory Eternal!

I was just talking about him earlier today; what a shame I never had the opportunity to see him perform live.
