So, can we avoid the "green dot" as long as we attribute the quote to Luther?

Does anyone have a source for, or ran across in the insult generator, the one about even the devil genuflecting?

It is an education process for me as I learn about the psychology of spiritual apostasy. And others get the benefit of perhaps hearing righteousness for the first time.

I got: "Were you against the heathen Priapus, he would probably pass wind in the face of such well-aimed terror." Wow. I wonder if he's talking about the god Priapus, god of Priapism , or if there was some unfortunately named bloke called Priapus?

I'll have to remember this next time i talk to someone from down under:
"In our country, fruit grows on trees and from trees, and meditation upon sin grows from contrition. But in your land, trees may grow on fruits, contrition from sins, people walk on their ears, and everything is upside down."

I had read it in a biography of Luther, or possibly an abridged version of his works. I probably still have the book at home in a box somewhere.

I should add the disclaimer: This is very true. No one should consider converting to Lutheranism just because Martin Luther could make Eminem cry like a b***h. You must take the fullness of the faith into account.

And one of my favorite Luther quotes:

which is roughly translated as "A cheerful fart never comes from a despondent ass".

If thats a real quote, then I think Ive found a little more respect for the guy. Thats brilliant.

I thought that I had heard something like it in my younger days, and I found it again on several sites on the Internet. I had read many of Luther's works as I was studying to be a lay minister in the WELS. He had a real way with words. Much of my upbringing in a household with a German mother had me exposed to all kinds of jokes and sayings involving farts and scat.

Hah, I had to watch a video of Luther's life in a world religions course and it made him seem so nice, jolly and such... I guess the movie wouldn't have worked well if he was a huge jerk.
