Christ is born!  Glorify Him!

Warm Nativity greetings to all of the Julian Calendar faithful!  May Christ our God, who deigned to be born in a cavern, bless you and keep you.

Hello, everybody. Just got back from Christmas dinner. We had the full round of services — three-hour* Vigil last night (didn’t want to go but got into it) consisting of the strange service* of Great Compline, plus Litya, Matins with Canon and Prime, and a Ukrainian-style Holy Supper in the church hall afterwards consisting of our +½-+-¦-¦ (Christmas/-Â¥-+-¦-+-¦-+-¦-+-ï-¦ tree), Ukrainian Christmas carols on CD, hay on the tables and plenty of -+-+-ü-é-+-ï-¦ yet good food (lots of fish); and of course Liturgy today, two hours’ worth, and the aforementioned dinner at a parishioner’s house.

*AFAIK only done in churches twice a year, Christmas and Theophany?

**Must be that monastic strain in Russian Orthodoxy — it can be annoying sometimes but it kept Russia holy.
