Lord have mercy on your people in Eritrea.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

Lord have mercy on your servants!
To God be the Glory in all things! Amen!

Only pray for me, that God would give me both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but truly will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one. St.Ignatius of Antioch.Epistle to the Romans.

It seems that this does not refer to the Oriental Orthodox Church, only to some obscure Protestant groups... does anyone have more information?

Actually, Eritrea does not recognize the radical forms of organized religions such as: Low-church Protestants, Baha'i followers, and Sufis. But Eritrea does recognize the Eritrean Orthodox Church, Sunni Islam, Catholicism, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church. All other religions have to undergo registration to worship.

yes, they recognise that they loved to persecute the orthodox church...
 :(

they have the patriarch! so definately NOT limiting the persecution to protestants and other religious sects (which, incidently, would not be ok)

both the british orthodox metropolitan, and all my eritrean friends (real ones, not computer ones!) confirm that the situation is very bad. indeed, the last news i heard (about 2 months ago) was that the patriarch aboune antonius is ill and not receiving proper medical attention.
