I was shocked and saddened to learn that a professor of mine at the University of Missouri-Columbia from whom I took classes in Oral Tradition, John Foley, a giant in the field (and that is the truth), died today after battling with cancer.  I learned a great deal from his classes on oral tradition and I think that what I took away from those classes really helped me to break free of the mindset that a text is in itself authoritative which has so plagued Protestant thought when approaching Scriptures and the prayer life.  He was an excellent scholar and I really loved the Homerathons he sponsored at his house.  Memory eternal.

Lord, have mercy.

You are right. I apologize for having sacked Constantinople. I really need to stop doing that.

Memory Eternal!

To God be the Glory in all things! Amen!

Only pray for me, that God would give me both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but truly will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one. St.Ignatius of Antioch.Epistle to the Romans.
