Can't wait to read about another life lived in silent humility somehow translated into more than two pages.

Weird how that happens.

You know you are questioning God here because He's the one that gives these saints their charisms.  If you knew saints you would be amazed at how pleasant they can be, after all they have been cleansed of the psychological hang up that burdens us lesser people.  It might surprise you to know that many of them have a sense of humor and are quite knowledgable about what's going on in the world.  Of course  this depends on their own personal enlightenment since they are saints,  as well as how  much contact they have had with the outside world.

There is a book by Kyriacos C. Markides:  The Mountain of Silence.   The author of the book has had contact with Eastern spirituality and wants to examine the monastic traditions of the Orthodox Church.  He is quite surprised to find the Anthonite monk he has contact with is not at all the way he expected him to be.  At first the monk refused  to continue the dialogues, since the questions being asked were somewhat unexpected, but after praying about it he decides otherwise.  Anyway, the monk is now the Bishop of Limassol in Cyprus.    Smiley

Again. Do you read what is posted?

That was rhetorical by the way, in case you read it.

It's obvious you're not free from hang ups.  Why don't you quit the sarcasm? Grin

Do you read palms as well? Is there is a chance I am going to meet a interesting stranger in the next month?

The only person that will interest you is the one in the mirror.  I bet you smile at him every morning.  Wink

You should get out of the tea leaf business today.

Like a certain Saint who never laughed; I've never smiled. And I covered all my mirrors years ago due to some serious difficulties I have with my appearance.

Or I am too lazy to clean them, whichever gets me more sympathy.

Fascinating short article on Elder Paisios: http://www.pigizois.net/agglika/paisios/10.htm

Elder Paisios is very popular in Greece.  He did prophesied, and he was reprimanded by the Elder Porphyrios  for disclosing too freely the knowledge given him of future events, and rightfully so.  Much of what is written was never said by the Elder Paisios and were simply additions and interpretations written by others.  Smiley

Is the book available from other sellers as well? I assume it will be available at my local Greek Orthodox Monastery soon.
