Sofia, December 1, 2002

During excavations of the Perperikon fortress in Kurdzhali region in Sothern Bulgaria archaeologists found a sealed bronze cross which enclosed a piece of the True Cross of Christ. This is the first such discovery in Bulgarian history.

A massive procession of Orthodox Christians took place in Kurdzhali on 1 december 2002 and the cross was translated to Our Lady's church where people venerated it. The local missionary Rev Boyan Saruev gave the initiative. No bishop took part.

Archim. Dr. Pavel Stefanov

An image of the cross can found at this site:http://www.pravoslavie.ru/english/news021206.htm

Life is just one disappointment after another.
