Interesting comment. One would think the opposite being that your state is a border state.  Well, the church is in its infancy ministering to the Latin American populations.  My concern is that the there is no recognition that there is a growing Spanish population, small that it be, in the Orthodox church.  I was hoping to see more Spanish Orthodox publications and this hasnt happened as yet.  Maybe someone should wake up the hierarchy to this fact before the non Catholic churches claim them first.

Well, there might be some in the Greek church here (I haven't been yet, so I don't know), but there are none in the Coptic church. There is only one Coptic church in all of Mexico, in Morelos, and I don't know how many people attend there. I have seen some videos of the church on Youtube, and it seems to be well-integrated into the society, with Spanish-language liturgy and a growing number of native converts. The Copts seem more successful in Bolivia, though, where several hundred native Bolivians attend at the cathedral of St. Mary and St. Mark in La Paz...no word on whether the liturgy is offered in Quechua or Aymara, though. One can hope. Wink

I hear you, though...there is a LOT of proselytization by Protestants here (many of whom are Latino), and also by Islam. You can see their programs here on the local public access stations quite frequently. Whether we're Greek or Coptic or Anglo-American or whatever, we really need to get our act together when it comes to outreach to the wider communities we live in.

All Christians in India are on the Gregorian Calendar. I'm not exactly sure but I believe it happened during the Goan Inquisition and we were too lazy to switch back to the old calendar afterwards.

Interesting. I was under the impression that all the OO follow the Julian paschalion.
