Liza, WOW. You have a God-given gift. These photographs are like Poetry. Please, please, please, contact an Orthodox publisher and get them published in a book or something. Often I go to the Religion section in Barnes and Noble and there is basically nothing on Orthodoxy. (Why is that?  ) Your pictures speak volumes about Orthodoxy, the quiet peacefulness, the love of God, the contemplation of God's wisdom, the seeking nature of our souls, the joy....... You should publish a book on the Orthodox experience in America, with all of your pictures of various settings to show more than what mere words can express. Again, WOW.  |

I don't honestly know. It's the first Orthodox "basilica" I have come across, as well. http://saintmarylivonia.com/home/#This particular priest and parish are very "modern" minded, and wish to "fit in". Perhaps they simply adopted the term to better "fit in to" the surrounding community. I've wondered this myself, and the next time I see Fr. George I will make a point of asking him. |

No disrespect intended, as I don't think it's a huge deal. |
