As a close-knit community of Copts wanting to involve the Church with our daily lives, we ask the priest to come bless our new homes, our stores and shops, our new cars, our livestock, our farms, our workplaces, our hospitals if dedicated to the church, etc. Being a butcher is important for a community who like to go buy and get their meat, especially if it's from a fellow Copt. So even in the slaughter, the priest blesses. It's nice that when starting any work, the priest might come to bless that work as well. This is not a ritual sacrifice of blood. It's part of a whole context of blessing for the community.
