"I don't personally know a single atheist who would deny that Jesus existed," said Louise Antony, professor of philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. "It would be really unfair to suggest that it's part of being an atheist to deny the existence of Jesus as a historical person."
I recently finished this book. Ehrman says nothing of the kind. In fact, he described himself in the introduction as something like "an agnostic with atheist leanings". He also said that he knew of no scholar, with a degree in a relevant field, and who currently teaches at a university/seminary, who believes that Jesus never existed--and that goes for atheists and agnostics as well as believers.
