Wow.

If this keeps up, I expect many people to lose their minds. If it gets over 600 million I might have to pull some money out of my life savings to play.

It only takes $1.  do you really think your life savings would improve your odds that much?

There is a 175,711,536 chance of winning. So I can increase my chances by like...10 with my life savings.

Bear in mind your chances of winning the entire prize are smaller; so many ppl will buy tickets it's rare for one person to hold the only winner.

But we're talking all new tickets.

We're starting at 0 tonight...the jackpot carries over but it's all new tickets, and all new numbers. Unless 300 million tickets are sold in the next 3 days, I guess.

It's okay though. When I win, I'll be happy to share the prize with one other person. But if there's a 3rd winner, me and the other winner will have to eliminate them. SO, don't be late if you're the 3rd. We can only split 500 million so many ways before it's just not worth it.

But there's no limit on how many tickets with same combination of numbers can be sold per drawing; you might pick the right numbers, so could someone else. When the prize gets this high millions of tickets are sold. Still, even a small piece of this pie would be nice!

Half a BILLION dollars. It is funny though to see the poor folks coming up with fifty bucks at the gas station for tickets. The reality of it is that one or fifty sets of numbers or various number combinations have little statistically to do with the chance of winning the jackpot. Good luck to all though and may the winner TITHE !

The fun reality check here. If you bought EVERY SINGLE TICKET sold for the last several drawings. EVERY SINGLE TICKET. And there were a LOT of tickets sold, especially with that $363M carrot on it. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. You still would not have won.

I've heard of raffles in the GOA*.  I understand the impetus, but it's still gambling and they should shy away from it.

What did Paisios say? And when was Elder Paisios canonized?

He said, "Today they're trying to destroy faith, and for the edifice of faith to fall they quietly pull out one stone, then another. But we're all responsible for the destruction; not just those who destroy but we who see how faith is being undermined and make no effort to strengthen it."

I'm not sure that he's been officially canonized.  But many are addressing him as such.  Same thing with St. Seraphim of Platina.

I was listening to the news earlier today and they had some "experts" giving advice on what to do if you win. The most sensible: consult financial and tax advisers before claiming the prize, keep your mouth shut about it until you do. Least sensible to me; keep working, since the lump sum is 'only" about $250M after taxes or $19M a year on the annuity. If I can't live on $19M/year I've got a problem.

The annuity is what 2.5% interest? If you take that then get maybe 5-20% on top of that annuity it might be best instead of getting a lump sum. But I don't trust what is it a 30 year payout period? I want the lump sum.

Does it really? Because I'm having the hardest time getting in.

With my 2 applications.  police

I will make a call and see what I can do. But... if a business lunch is required to work out the details, can you loan me $20?  Grin

Oh yeah sure. But it must be done at Primanti Bros.

LOL I'm only 24, so that would make me the youngest winner ever?
