I find the Mac OS X a more stable OS. Not too wrapped up in the technology so don't mind the comparative dearth of available software compared to Windows - all those flaming patches*-¦!?
Have nightmare memories of DOS!

It's kind of a nuanced question. Preference depends on what I'm doing with it. For development work, Solaris; for home use - Win XP, solely because it has more goodies and is faster than 2000. Though, I guess when some punk hacks into my machine from the net I'll be sending hate mail to Gates.

I'll be sending hate mail to Gates. Better yet, just get an Apple and you won't even remember what it was like to worry about viruses, worms and the like. +æ+¦+¦-Ç-Ä -ä++ +£+»++++ ++++-à ! :-)

I prefer the Apple OS X because I don't really have to worry about security issues to nearly the same extent that I have to when I am using Windows XP.

Yes, a little ballot box stuffing, it would appear. Voter fraud!

Windows ME. Reasons: I can use Internet, (IE, Netscape or Opera), and MS Word 97, on a computer with only 128 MB RAM and 1 GB harddrive. (Although I can't have both the internet and Word open at the same time).

I really like my Windows NT 4.0 with service pack 6, if I get a new machine, I think the NT will come with it. Nilus

You know, nilus, I enjoyed using NT4.0 Workstation emmensely as well. I never crashed it - ran solidly. Of course my Mac friends couldn't resist asking me if my computer was actually turned ON ... Among its qualities - was not a memory hog like 2000/XP, but would make use of increased RAM very well. And it was a relatively small OS compared to the bloated ones out now. My 2000 and Linux installations are minimum 1GIG at install. Lack of Plug-N-Play didn't bother me either. Thanks for the reminder of more enjoyable computing days past. Demetri
