Evolver: The Making of Youthanasia

Nice trip down memory lane... I haven't seen this since I owned it on VHS back in the mid-90s.

From The Back Of The Room

Watched it on amazon instant video. It's about women in the American DIY punk/hardcore music scenes over the last 30 or so years (both behind the scenes and in the bands). I probably would have found it much more interesting if I was even the slightest bit familiar with this type of music; having said that, the biographical elements and social issues held my attention.

The People vs. George Lucas. It's on Netflix.

I tried to watch this, but couldn't get past about 15 minutes. I can't watch most documentaries of this type though.

Easter Island: Mysteries of a Lost World

I don't get what it has to do with pascha, or even Christianity, but in general it wasn't that bad.

Inside Chipotle.

Behind the counter? I really love Chipotle in more ways than I can describe. They really care about what they do, and who their customers are.

Now that's a company I would work for; to wit, I might go start applying there.

I have two really amazing ones here for you. Both were on netflix for a time. I love the tiny house movement and want to show everyone I can about it! I think more people need to simplify their lives like this!

Not really a documentary, but since it's a nonfiction feature, I figured it goes here better than the movie thread.

Enjoy! I absolutely loved it, but then I'm a ballet nut.

On a similar note, I've gone back to Agony and Ecstasy: A Year with English National Ballet. Their Glastonbury performance renewed my interest something fierce.

Yep. If there are two women that are ideal to love and make love to, it's ballerinas and fashion models. What a man would not to have Cara Delevingne or Karlie Kloss! What a joy there is in a Russian ballerina, or any ballerina for that matter. Ballet though is not about lust, but about the beauty of the body in motion. But there's a Sherlock Holmes story where Dr. Watson is flirting with the ballerinas after a show and he is telling Holmes about why ballerinas are so desirable.

I saw the first one.  It was ok.  The guy's girlfriend is really annoying throughout the film.  I like the idea of building one of these houses.

Not exactly a documentary but it's more of a movie Biography of a Maronite Lebanese Catholic Monk renamed Charbel.
It's Not exactly Orthodox but they do come close and it is very touching. I love it!
The whole movie is legally for free aswell! The production is amazing. It's in Arabic but with English Subtitles.

Hope anyone who watches it enjoys it as much as i did   Grin

Just watched "Kidnapped for Christ" today. It's basically about abuses at an Evangelical run Behavior modification school.

Sad to say, it wasn't as good as I expected. Still quite a good documentary I must say.

I'm planning to watch "Korengal" next.

Watched one on Netflix last night called "Happy." It was really good and would recommend it to anyone.

from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1613092/
"HAPPY takes us on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the slums of Kolkata in search of what really makes people happy. Combining real life stories of people from around the world and powerful interviews with the leading scientists in happiness research, HAPPY explores the secrets behind our most valued emotion."

Quote
The documentary features new interviews with many experts, including

co-author Ronald Rychlak,
former CIA chief James Woolsey,
author David Horowitz,
Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin,
U.S. Congressman Frank Wolf,
historian Michael Ledeen,
journalist Arnaud de Borchgrave,
defense analyst Frank Gaffney,
Nina Khrushcheva, great-granddaughter of Nikita Khrushchev,
deputy undersecretary of defense Jed Babbin,
assistant secretary of defense Richard Perle,
Vladimir Tismaneanu, director, Center for the University of Maryland's Study of Post-Communist Societies,
Michael Maloof, former security policy analyst for the U.S. Defense Department,
Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, terrorism expert and director of American Center for Democracy,
David Kupelian, author and managing editor of WND,
Gary Krupp, founder and president of Pave the Way Foundation,
Yuri Yarim-Agaev, physicist and Soviet dissident,
Wayne Barnes, former FBI agent,
Roger L. Simon, novelist and screenwriter,
Darnelle Mason, missionary to Romania,
Palm Beach Rabbi Leonid Feldman and
Romanian-born NASA aerospace scientist Constantin Rauta.

The film documentary dramatically depicts how disinformation - the evil "science" of deception that so disastrously shaped our world during the last generation - is still very much alive in the current generation under Barack Obama.

It's the video version of Pacepa's book. Couldn't care less about the sensationalist presentation. That is done just to make the publishing financially viable.

The core of the information is still important, which is that Russia intelligence has always invested more money, time and effort in disinformation than in espionage or even counter-intelligence.

It shows that although it certainly does not have the world-controlling power conspirationists believe, it probably influenced the 20th and 21st century more than skeptics would be confortable with.
