http://araborthodoxy.blogspot.com/2012/03/christians-expelled-from-homs.htmlAl-Haqiqa has learned from church sources in Homs that the city has been emptied of almost 90% of its Christians. It is expected that a complete "cleansing" of buildings owned by Christians will occur within a matter of days or weeks by armed men from the Wahhabi "Faruq Brigade." A source in the Orthodox metropolitan's office told al-Haqiqa that armed men from the Faruq Brigade went to the homes of the Christians, house by house, in the neighborhoods of Hamidiya and Bustan el-Diwan, informing them that they must immediately leave their homes and the city of Homs.

The western media is practically silent on the situation of the Christian minorities in the Middle East. This same persecution is continuing even in Kosovo. This "cleansing" process will continue until the West wakes up and comes to grip to the Islamization movement.

This is just the beginning, or rather a continuation, of the sad persecution of our communities in Islamic dominated societies. I doubt the "west" will ever wake up.

"For their own protection" I suppose.

Actually, the motto of the "Free Syrian Army" is "Christians to Beirut, Alawites to the coffin"...

Lovely. Freedom for some, exile and death for others.

A couple of weeks ago a Syrian woman in our church told me of a Christian neighborhood in Homs being evacuated after being warned by the rebels out of valid concern to save lives. She has been an American for many years but routinely communicates with her direct family in Syria (some who still emigrate). This situation seems difficult to understand; I also realize my observation is vague.

There is "an ongoing ethnic cleansing of Christians", carried out by members of the "Brigade Faruq", which has been linked to Al Qaeda. Militant armed Islamists -have managed to expel 90 percent of Christians from Homs and confiscated their homes by force. This is according to sources in the Syrian Orthodox Church, which represents 60 percent of Christians in Syria. According to the sources within the Syrian Orthodox Church, the militants went door to door in the neighborhoods of Hamidiya and Bustan al-Diwan, forcing Christians to flee, without giving them the chance to take their belongings. The "Faruq Brigade" is run by armed elements of Al-Qaeda and various Wahhabi groups and includes mercenaries from Libya and Iraq. Christian Post: The Catholic news agency Fides says it has received a note from the Syrian Orthodox Church, which represents 60 percent of the Christians in Syria, about "an ongoing ethnic cleansing of Christians" by members of the a militant Islamist outfit, Brigade Faruq, which has links with al-Qaida.
The militants have expelled 90 percent of Christians in Homs, which has faced the brunt of violence related to the uprising, and grabbed their homes, it said. They went door to door in the neighborhoods of Hamidiya and Bustan al-Diwan forcing Christians to flee without giving them the chance to take their belongings, it added.

I notice the U.N. isn't sending in the guys with the blue hats. Mainly because Holy Rus' and China are blocking such intervention. Why? Neither seem to like the idea of popular uprisings at home for some reason. Who knows if outside intervention would amount to much help. As Bosnia showed, the UN troops did nothing while Bosniak forces used "safe havens" to launch military strikes and more or less watched the ensuing slaughter of civilians. On the other hand the status quo of reliance on a moribund regime to protect Christians (and other minorities) against Islamists isn't ideal and is begging for reprisals once / if said regime collapses. Either way it is a sad situation and basically no-win situation for local Christians.
