I can't believe I had no idea this place existed, even when they good sisters were in Silver Spring.  Has anyone been?

I definitely plan to visit. Since it is only a 40 minute drive, I may go this weekend.  Thanks for the link to the website!

Looks lovely.  Thanks for posting that, Schultz.

Always female monasteries though.  >:( If anyone plans a trip, i.e. has a priest going, please let us know.

I've never visited a ROCOR church or monastery before, though.  Do they tend to be more strict?

They are under ROCOR but their lineage is Greek (from an area north of Athens). Most of the nuns (including the Abbess) are Americans who went to Greece to become nuns and now have returned to the US.

Why do you say this? There are many Orthodox male monasteries in the U.S. Have you ever visited St. Nektarios Monastery in Roscoe, NY? It is like being on Mt. Athos in America!

Please remember that all holy monasteries of all the Orthodox jurisdictions *depend* on our support, whether it be a gift of food, buying something from their gift/bookstores, a small donation given, etc. It is always nice to call and ask if they need any food in particular. If not, buying any food in bulk (from Costco for instance) is always appreciated (nuts, peanut butter, jam, honey, sugar, creamer, tuna, beans, olive oil, etc.).
