An Egyptian priest will serve six months in prison for a unique 'crime.' His church was too tall. From the article: A court in Edfu has sentenced Reverend Makarios Bolous, pastor of St. George's Church in the village of Elmarinab, Edfu, in the Aswan province, to six months prison and a fine of 300 pounds for violations in the height of the church building. The court also ordered the removal of the excess height.
The church had received a license from the Governor of Aswan and was still under construction, but it was torched by a Muslim mob on September 30, 2011. Construction workers had started removing the excess height before the torching of the church. |

This is BS. The highest authority told the local government to allow the xchurch to be built, but the locals are doing nothing. Hope the appeal goes somewhere.

Lord have mercy. The Church in Egypt is being destroyed and the advocates of the social context in which it is happening praise it under the idea of "democracy". I am beginning to hate that word. It's worthless in Islamic societies, as none of them have the necessary underlying respect for true pluralism that actually makes it preferable to or different from dictatorship. Would it be an expression of democracy to burn down a mosque in the West, or to force Muslims to give up the deeds to their houses and move away, or to burn down Muslim-owned businesses? All of these things are happening routinely in Egypt. What hypocrites these Muslims and their Western sycophants are. They all deserve to be in jail, not this poor priest.
