I know someone who, until recently, was Orthodox, but has now returned to Reformed Christianity.

He actively agitates for this heresy and sometimes posts against Orthodoxy.

What is my best Orthodox response to such a person? Do I "answer a fool according to his folly" or "not answer a fool according to his folly" as Proverbs 26 instructs?

depends on the temperment of the fool, the nature of the folly, and those being inflicted with both and in what circumstances.

If it's on the Internet, I wouldn't bother. God knows there's enough crap on the 'net. If he does it to your face, counter it. If others come to you with a problem brought by his work, correct them. Act according to your conscience. Otherwise, leave him to God.

But not mine. Maybe not trying to get anywhere is the best. I didn't say:

Invite him to dinner to argue.

Eat and talk about other stuff.

Persons aren't creatures to get somewhere with.

But I am crazy like that.
