The website for the London School of Orthodox Christian Studies is now online and if you would like to be a student on the first course which is being presented, an Introduction to Orthodox Christology, then you can register now.

The learning platform website will open on the 1st March and account information will be sent to registered students to allow them to log on then.

If you are wanting to commit to this course, which you can follow at your own pace and with continuing support, then please register so that I can be aware of how many people are starting this exciting programme.

The site will be developed in due course, and can be found at http://www.lsocs.co.uk/

God bless all who decide to begin this learning journey together.

It doesn't look like it is educationally validated by any recognised body.

It isn't, and says clearly that it isn't. That isn't the purpose at the beginning.

"The level of study should be considered as comparable to a first year of UK university education."

Without any external assessment of the course i doubt that.

Is it something you would be aiming towards eventually when other courses are added?

You are entitled to your opinion, but why should the level of a course not be of a particular standard simply because it is not validated?

When the course programme is complete the aim is to be validated for a CertHE. To achieve this all of the courses as created will be produced at that appropriate level. But with one course/module only being launched it is not reasonable to imagine that it would be externally validated.

Do you not realize that this is not unusual for 'start-ups' in higher education? You generally can't get accredited until you have full, functional program for the accreditation agency to review. You can't have a full, functional program unless you are actually teaching students.

I don't see the problem with raising issues and asking for clarification. I'm sure Father Peter can cope with any question or points that are put to him.

There are many courses online asking for payment and supposedly delivering a service and, as is sometimes the case, unless you quiz people and are very careful to check every detail out, once you part with your money, there is no come back, even if the course is less than expected -- after all, the description was based on someone's opinion.

I could say my chair was comparable to a 1920 art deco chair and offer you it for sale but my guess is you'd be looking for a little more than my opinion before you part with your cash.

It might be, but it might not be either and once you have made a comparison, there is an expectation from the students parting with their cash.

i expect it will be high class.
i read several papers by father peter before coming orthodox, which encouraged me that i was heading in the right direction. they were written to a high academic standard without being excessively full of jargon as many academic works are.

Father Peter, is it too late to register now for the Christology class?

Hi

No, all the courses are ongoing, and anyone can register at any time and study at their own pace.

Best wishes
