My daughter notified me a while ago that Jacob, my four month old grandson appeared to be allergic to lactose - as there was blood and mucus in his stool. My daughter breast-feeds him - so she has cut out all of the milk products from her diet. He, has continued with the blood and mucus in his stool, so they cut all soy from her diet. Now they want to cut out all rice, all wheat, and egg.
My daughter is a genetic hypoglycemic - she has to keep her calorie intake very high and she has to keep her proteins very balanced or she gets very ill and can become comatose. So as they cut out more and more food, it becomes riskier for her until she can find a good substitute.
Lactose allergies run in our family, but none of the other foods do. I believe there is Cilliac disease (auto-immune disease that is set off by wheat) runs in my son's (in law) family.
I ask for prayers for my daughter, Ginger, and for my grandson Jacob.
Edit: Also, the formula they may need to place my grandson on is incredibly expensive.

Brown Rice milk especially basmati rice?
Sometimes when nothing else stays down, organic brown rice milk (the excess liquid that is poured off the rice) is very helpful.

My humble prayers, dear sister in Christ, for Ginger and precious little Jacob. My son had salmonella poisoning (we never knew how as he was only on formula and cereal w/formula at the time) at four months, so I know how frightening this is.
I pray to the great and miraculous Saint of our Times, St. Nektarios, to intercede for the little baby, so that his frightening health problem can be resolved. If you can attain some holy oil from a Church, you, as his loving grandmother can annoint him and with fervent prayer and trust in God and the intercessions of the saint, I promise that he will get better.
I pray also that all will work out for Ginger as well and for their finances if they need to switch to formula. May God provide and make way for them....

Ha, Gamliel. . .actually, because Ginger is nursing she can have it. . .but evidently they have found that babies do not absorb water as well as they thought, so they told Ginger not to give him water as he may choke on it. Heh, and her grandmom (me) is, telling her to give him some water with a teaspoon of brown sugar in it to hold him until they could get to a place where she could nurse. . .boy - o times change FAST! |

Maria, thank you. . . I don't know if he can take brown rice, or not - but I will ask Ginger to ask Jacob's pediatrician about it. Lately there was publicized a problem with brown rice sugars. . .and arsenic? I'm not sure. . .but I will suggest it to Ginger. Thank you again. |
