My wife and I received the wonderful news today that we will have a son. He is set to arrive on July 7. Just wanted to let you know. If you have some name ideas, I'm all ears, but my wife (Despite my objections) has forbidden any obvious Greek names so no Constantine or Demetrios(darn!)

If you want to go Greek without being obvious you couldn't go wrong with Philip or Alexander, and I know at least one of them is a Saint's name. Though I think you were on the right track with James Tiberius...

Wonderful news!
As far as a name goes, why not pick something from your own ethnic heritage?

By "one of them is a saint's name", you mean Alexander the Great, right? Congratulations, Scamandrius!

By "one of them is a saint's name", you mean Alexander the Great, right? Congratulations, Scamandrius! I'm sure there was a Saint Alexander at some point, and I am also sure that Megas Alexandros it was not! (I was thinking of the Disciple Philip in this case).

Though I think you were on the right track with James Tiberius... Don't worry, there are lots of beautiful Greek names that don't scream "I sell fresh fruit for a living and always wear my shirt open too far, exposing a gigantic gold crucifix amidst a nest of hair". Haralambos is not one of these.

No Philip or George, nor Alexander nor Alexis, Andrew nor Stephen? How about Mitri? Btw, Constantine is Latin.

How about John, after St. John the Wonderworker? Or James, after St. James the brother of Christ?
