The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
Writings from the Philokalia: On Prayer of the Heart,

Lord, have mercy.
"For, by its immensity, the divine substance surpasses every form that our intellect reaches. Thus we are unable to apprehend it by knowing what it is. Yet we are able to have some knowledge of it by knowing what it is not." - St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa contra gentiles, I, 14.

Be mindful, O Lord, of all civil Authorities, especially the U. S. President Barack Obama, of our Armed Forces, of this city in which we dwell, and of every city and land; grant us peaceful times, that we may lead a calm and tranquil life in all godliness and sanctity.

Lord have mercy. Lead and guide him.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

As Pontius Pilate repented at the tomb of Our Lord and became a Saint, so may Barack Obama also repent and find your mercy O God.

In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, One God, -amen-

Judgmental commentary disguised as prayer removed from the above  -PtA

You've been warned how many times for posting such political commentary on the Public Forum and for posting such judgmental commentary on the Prayer Forum? Disguising your judgment as a prayer doesn't mitigate the fact that such commentary is inappropriate for the Prayer Forum, which I'm sure you know. If anything, it makes your prayer even more hypocritical. "I thank Thee, O God, that I'm not like this publican!"

For exhibiting such behavior yet again, you are now on Warned status for the maximum duration of 99 days. We on the moderator team had debated whether or not we should have put you on Post Moderation, especially since you submitted the offensive post while you were already on Warned status for a previous offense, but we decided to be merciful, trusting that you will be more careful in the future. (The time we spent debating what kind of warning to give you also explains the slow response.)

If you think this warning unfair, please feel free to appeal it via private message to either Fr. George or Veniamin.

“Universe,” “love,” “eternity,” “brotherhood,” “peace,” “life,” “justice,” “truth,” “God”… These are big words. Very big words. But not nearly big enough. They can’t be defined; they can only be lived.

Amen Lord have mercy!
To God be the Glory in all things! Amen!

Only pray for me, that God would give me both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but truly will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one. St.Ignatius of Antioch.Epistle to the Romans.
