I tried to post and got a page not found then a 404. and in backing up kept getting 404's until I was told I was not authorized to see the main page. I got in via the front page with our noble admins mug shots on it.
Just wanted the tech side to know.

"Strange Days Indeed. Most peculiar, Mama" Hey - where is my avatar? The ladies are complaining! I can select it - but it never displays. And when I go to "Who's online" almost everyone is shown as "hidden"

Trilogy? If you're referring to the John Norman books "Outlaws of Gor" "Priest-Kings of Gor" "Buckets of Gor" (oops, that's not one of the books. ) There are over 20 of the things in the series. Good Golly! Or do you mean "Gormenghast" which is in three books? Ebor (who has probably read way too much. )

What if it was part of the original software used to make OC.net and then was lost for a long time. Is it not then a restoration rather then an innovation? I should stop now before I get in trouble. Ebor,
You're 1st guess was correct, hate to date myself but I had the 3 original books, about the same time I started reading Mr. Tolken, maybe late 60's early 70's, course my memory could be affected by organic nutrients of that time period, along with Boones Farm, various Sangrias and Ten High Whiskey.
Oh show me the way to the next whiskey bar.......

Well, it's a small thing, but if you want to know, when you click on a thread on the top, perhaps the bottom also, there are the navigational links saying "<previous next> except "previous" is spelled "previos" Hey maybe it's been that way and no one has noticed, I dunno Just tryin to help

LOL...now THIS is a good trick!! I just went in to edit my profile (my avatar was gone, too!), and it said that my last time online was "Wed, December 31, 1969, 06:00:01 PM"! How about that! Just days shy of ten years before I was born, I logged on to OC.net on a system of sharing information using a piece of machinery, neither of which would be invented for several years! How 'bout that?!

Well, I suppose I'm dating myself then, since I read the first few "Gor" books when they first came out. Good thing you stopped with the third one. Somewhere after that Norman figured out why some people were reading his books and it wasn't for the battles or dealing with aliens. It got so at the appearance of a new one, there would be a ritual of opening the book at random (in the book store) finding the... ahem.... lurid bits (it was almost sure to show every few pages it seemed) and put the book gently back on the shelf and walk away. Better you stuck with Tolkein. Ebor

I wonder what was so dislikeable about the 'book and cross' avatar that it had to be removed? Is it a sign that 'the book' is not much favored on this forum, at least enough to not have stood the competition of all those sexy (?) male and female actors and actresses and other worldly features?
Who makes the decision, and was there maybe a general preferences poll about it and I missed it?
Shiloah, who would like to have her old 'book and cross' avatar back, please

I don't remember if it was showing up under your name since after the upgrade. If it was, then I don't know what happened. If it was not, then it probably got lost in the upgrade. If Rob can find it or otherwise get it once he has a chance to be home and not travelling in NY, I'm sure he can help you out with that. No one's out to get that avatar (others have had it in the past, IIRC), or you. Re: the actors and actresses, there are some avatars that came with the software, I think, and I assume they were among them. At least the llama is no longer the default and we can all get along with our lives.

I doubt that there was anything wrong with your avatar. In the nearly 2 years I've been here, my avatar of Samwise (a couple of versions) has been accidentally lost during upgrades and other software de-rangements. The admins have found me new ones at my request (though the film clip of Sam saying "Po-ta-toes" would have been too much use of bandwidth I thought. But I appreciated it.)

Sorry, I did the upgrade and then left for New York for a few days. Unfortunately, my schedule is quite busy for the next few days, so I will be unable to resolve most issues until sometime next week.,
Thanks for your patience.
