My grandmother, the Lord's servant Helen, fell asleep in the Lord this morning. She was 101 and one of the toughest yet refined people I have ever encountered--a true steel magnolia. I find it somewhat appropriate that her repose occurred on the Diamond Jubilee.
While I was unable to bring her into the Church, an icon of St. Helen guarded over her these last several days in hospice.
My thanks to all, and my deepest gratitude to those of you who have been praying for her these past weeks.

May Helen's Memory be Eternal!
Lord grant her forgiveness and rest among Your saints; and grant healing and ease the burden of those who mourn her passing.
Lord, have mercy!

May the Lord God grant her rest in a place without sorrow and sighing. May he grant you healing and blessed remembrance of your beloved grandmother.
Lord, have mercy! Lord, have mercy! Lord, have mercy!
May her memory be eternal.
