Greetings in that Divine and Most Precious Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Unfortunately cat events such as these are tangible reminders that unlike dogs, cats are not human's slaves, rather they are more like our friends than pets, and always have the option to disengage the mutuality of our friendships and split town
EVERY single cat I have owned since I was in the first grade inevitably split, that seems to be what they do. Ironically, its those stray cats you wish would leave are the ones that stick around. I did have one cat for 15 years till she died, she was a true sweet heart, in fact, everybody seemed to like her for no reason, even notorious cat hating kinds of people would stop and pet her, strangers walking down the street would stop and pet her, she was a gem, and I do miss her..
But that is part and parcel of cat "ownership" and after a few cats we all seem to live with it (sort of of)
